Mueid Al Raee is a innovation economics researcher at UNU-MERIT & SBE at Maastricht University. Currently, his professional focus is on the project titled, "The Kiss of Policy for the Resource-Cursed Arabian Beauty - Innovation Policy, Investment in Capabilities and Structural Transformation in the Arabian Gulf". He has an undergraduate degree in Chemical and Process Engineering and a post-graduate degree in Business Administration with specialization in Strategic Management and Multinational Finance from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Oman. He also has a postgraduate diploma in Project Management from Maastricht School of Management. He worked as a process engineer and as head of program management at Orpic a refining and petrochemicals business in Oman. Later he moved to Chicago working with UOP that is Honeywell's Technology, Service, and Research division related to petrochemical and separation technologies production.

His recent research includes a publication on strategic management of information and communication technology businesses in Oman, a technical report on Millennium Development Goals, and a series of papers on the topic of "Innovation Policy and Diversification in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council" co-authored with Jo Ritzen and Denis de Crombrugghe.
