Teaching Fellow (Integrated Care), University of Surrey

I am an experienced Mental Health Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber in the specialist field of addictions. I am also a qualified Naturopath and Nutritional Therapist ND, DipNT, mBANT, RN, BSc (Hons). I work at the University of Surrey as a Teaching Fellow, teaching across academic levels on both professional preparation and post registration programmes, championing the integration of mental health learning.

I have a passion for mind-body medicine that facilitates life-long changes to health, with a particular focus on the perinatal period. I am committed to helping people achieve optimum well-being and I am drawn to natural therapies in a pursuit to find effective treatment methods without unwanted side effects. I believe that nutrition is especially vital to prevent disease of the mind, since the brain is built from the very nutrients often found to be devoid in our diets.

I have recently registered as a PhD student also at the University of Surrey. I am in the process of designing a project that uniquely brings together my areas of expertise and interests. The overall project aim is to test the hypothesis that low dietary zinc status is associated with depressive symptoms in pregnant women.
