Lecturer in interior design, Queensland University of Technology

Natalie is a Lecturer in Interior Design in the QUT School of Design, with 18 years international commercial practice experience, and 10 years teaching experience. Her engaged research explores design thinking and design-led innovation approaches in the secondary and tertiary education contexts for both students and educators, as a framework to prepare a twenty-first century-ready workforce. Her PhD developed a Design-led Educational Innovation Model, tested through an informal design immersion program delivered into six regional/rural Queensland high schools. Natalie’s current research is exploring aspects related to the implementation of the 2019 Queensland Senior Design Syllabus, the scaling up of teachers' capacity to teach creativity and innovation through design thinking in the Digital Technologies curriculum, and the facilitation of design expertise for non-designers.
