PhD Researcher, University of Sheffield

I'm a PhD student in mathematics working on applying mathematics to solving problems in ecology. Previous to this, I worked as a secondary school mathematics teacher for three years.

My PhD research is trying to answer the huge question: What behaviours drive the movement patterns of animals? Some animals restrict their space-use to a small area of their available landscape and we call this their home range, I am interested in the behaviours which drive these patterns.

Outside of research I am interested in communicating science by giving talks in public and in universities. I also teach tutorials to mathematics and engineering undergraduates.
