Dr Nick Atkinson is an evolutionary biologist by training, and conservationist of over 30 years’ experience. He has worked in academic, government, NGO and business sectors, often with lots of crosstalk between them. He studied Zoology at Nottingham and completed a PhD in biogeography and population genetics at Edinburgh. Nick holds an associate fellowship at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.

Nick’s primary interests are to find innovative ways to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Particular focus is on:

– Nature based solutions
– Developing emerging natural capital markets
– Raising the profile of coastal and marine “blue carbon” habitats
