Dr Nicole Blay is a Research Fellow (workforce), Western Sydney University, Ingham Medical Institute and SWSLHD. Nicole has a strong research background with expertise in systematic reviews and observational-timing studies. She is especially interested in how the management and organisation of health services impacts the health workforce and patient outcomes. Nicole graduated with a PhD from the University of Technology Sydney, in 2016. Her thesis The impact of patient transfers and bedspace moves on nurse workload demonstrates the frequency that patients are transferred within and between wards and departments and the impact on nursing workload.

Nicole's extensive clinical and management experience centred around general intensive care and cardio-thoracic nursing including heart-lung transplantation.
