Niels H. Batjes

Soil scientist with over 30 years of experience in developing and applying land resources information systems in support of sustainable land management and capacity building. My special interest is in research on soil carbon stocks and change, land evaluation, soil data analysis for continental and global environmental assessments, soil property (area-class) maps, and digital soil mapping. I also coordinate the activities of the World Data Centre for Soils (WDC-Soils), regular member of the International Council for Science World Data System (ICSU WDS).
