Noam is a Research Fellow in the Centre on Innovation and Energy Demand (CIED), as well as a member of the Sussex Energy Group (SEG). His background includes degrees in physics and environmental Science, although his recent research interests lie in transitions to sustainable development. This includes human dimensions in low carbon transitions; low carbon technologies, such as microgeneration; social innovation for sustainability; and community and local initiatives for change. The main theoretical background of this work is transitions theory, with related theories including strategic niche management and diffusion of innovation. He is currently leading a project on visions and scenarios of future sustainable transport, focusing on personal mobility.
