W.M.C.Oshan Wedage obtained his B.A in Archaeology from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura - Sri Lanka and MA from the Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute of Archaeology Pune, India. His MA Thesis was entitled ‘Stratigraphical Analiysis of Fa-Hien cave in Sri Lanka comparing stratigraphy excavation in 1988 and 2009’. The location of the research was the Western Province in Sri Lanka in the lowland wet zone rainforests.

During his 12 years of experience in field excavation he successfully finished more than 20 excavations including Fa-Hien Cave, Kithulgala Belilena, Varana Cave and Miniathiliya Open Air Sites. Following these field experiences he has joined the Department of Archaeology as a PhD Researcher. His PhD Research involves ‘New Investigations into the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene Rain Forest prehistory of Sri Lanka’.
