Peter Siminski is currently Associate Professor of Economics, Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow, Visiting Principal Fellow at the Melbourne Institute for Applied Economic and Social Research (University of Melbourne) and an IZA Research Fellow.
In the six years since completing his PhD, Peter has established himself as one of Australia’s leading applied microeconomists. His research is primarily in health, labour and public economics, with a focus on the effects of Australian government programs on economic outcomes and behaviours. Since 2011, he has published nine journal articles including in some of the world’s leading economics journals such as the American Economic Review and The Review of Economics and Statistics. He won the prize for best paper published in 2009 in the Economic Record (Australia’s leading economics journal), the only time this prize has been awarded to a sole-authored paper.
Since 2008, Peter has been Director of the Centre for Human and Social Capital Research. Since 2010, CHSCR has hosted four successful international research workshops and many leading international visitors.
