I am an academic researcher and policy analyst specializing in the area of international trade policy and economic integration with over 15 years of research experience and a distinguished track record of publications on trade and economic integration in Asia and the Pacific region. I have authored and edited over 30 books/book chapters, and over 40 research papers including academic journals and policy research/discussion/working papers, that has received over 1300 career citations. My body of analytical and policy-relevant empirical research as an external consultant and advisor includes the UNESCAP, ILO, Infinite-Sum Modeling Inc. (ISM), ADB, ASEAN Secretariat, and most recently, the World Bank Group on their trade pillar of Business Enabling Environment (BEE) indicators project. Over the years, I have contributing actively to the debates/discussions in the media on role of trade agreements involving India and its trading partners. I have proven expertise in applying both ex-ante and ex-post quantitative techniques of trade policy evaluation, involving large datasets, which have had a strong policy impact, including a citation in the 2022 G20 task force report.

My research has been published widely on the topics of economic impact and evaluation of free trade agreements, trade, and economic impact of COVID-19, and on impact of free trade agreements on global value chains (GVC) led trade in key publications as The World Economy, Journal of World Trade, ADB Working papers, and the Journal of Policy Modeling.

I have held board member positions in the academia and supervised and examined a number of student thesis and dissertations on trade related topics, including the impact of COVID-19 on dairy industry trade in New Zealand. I am also a core team member of a global economics consulting firm (Infinite Sum modelling Inc) that combines the expertise of data analytics and economic principles to provide sound business consulting for its clients. I have contributed to a policy brief for the ongoing G20 task force meetings in India in 2023. I am also an adjunct researcher with the India-New Zealand Business Council.
