Renee Knake Jefferson

Professor Renee Knake Jefferson holds the Doherty Chair in Legal Ethics the University of Houston Law Center, where she is a professor of law. She is an author of the book Shortlisted: Women in the Shadows of the Supreme Court, heralded as "fascinating" and "a major contribution."

Her award-winning scholarship (four books and over 20 articles) has been cited in briefs before the US Supreme Court, prestigious law reviews such as the Yale Law Journal, and a range of media including CNN, Forbes, the Houston Chronicle, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. She regularly appears on radio and television news shows including MSNBC and National Public Radio.

She is an elected-member of the American Law Institute and previously served as a delegate to the World Economic Form Global Agenda Councils on Justice and Rule of Law. She was named as an American Bar Association Journal “Legal Rebel” and a member of the Fastcase50 for her work on entrepreneurship and innovation in legal services. She has been invited to speak about access-to-justice and innovation in Australia, Canada, England, Guatemala, Mexico, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
