Postdoctoral research assistant at the Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health & Sport (WIPAHS), Swansea University

Rhi works for the Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport (WIPAHS), which is a collaborative network across higher education sport science departments in Wales, Sport Wales and Welsh Government. WIPAHS are driven to co-create practice-driven research with stakeholders, in order to transform the health and wellbeing of people in Wales using the power of physical activity and sport. Rhi's research considers the role of positive psychology in physical wellbeing, with a specific focus on motivational quality and cognitive style in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviour.

Rhi has also been involved in a number of transdisciplinary programmes, contributing to multi-national and multi-disciplinary teams, including an initiative to reduce food waste via altering perceptions of 'ugly' fruit and vegetables, and a project to enhance quality of life in deprived areas of Mexico.

Having previously worked as a sailing and windsurfing instructor, Rhi has a passion for extreme sports, and as a keen surfer and runner is also interested in how psychological principles such as resilience, can enhance both athletic and academic performance.
