Research Scientist in Environmental and Natural Resource Modelling and Risk Analysis, CSIRO

Rich Little is a Research Scientist at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research in Hobart, Tasmania. His research interests are simulation modelling to aid in the management of marine assets. A major focus of his research is on modelling fisher behaviour and fishing dynamics, including the effects of information sharing in social networks, and associated complex system applications. Originally from Canada, Rich did undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Statistics. He did a Master's degree in Environmental Science, and completed a PhD in 2000 focusing on patterns in post-fire boreal forests from the University of Alberta. Since then he has worked at CSIRO on models that evaluate management strategies in fisheries on the Great Barrier Reef, Fly River of Papua New Guinea, Eastern Torres Strait, the Australian Northwest-shelf, and Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia.
