PhD Candidate, Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney

Richard McGee Richard is a future Paediatric surgeon and PhD candidate based at the Centre for Kidney Research and the Sydney School of Public Health.

Having studied Medicine in Ireland, Richard moved to Australia where he has since completed postgraduate degrees in Anatomy and Clinical Epidemiology. He is a keen swimmer (and volunteers as a surf life saver on Sydney’s northern beaches) and has also organised the annual CKR team triathlon.

Richard’s PhD on: Trials and outcomes in Paediatric surgery, looks at several areas relating to Paediatric surgery in particular epidemiological aspects of paediatric surgical trials.

Several related projects will evaluate the current state of paediatric surgical research for methodological rigour, aiming to establish an evidence base and agenda for future trials to improve outcomes in paediatric surgery.

The projects involve epidemiological methodology studies, systematic reviews, data linkage projects and analysis of existing study datasets.
