A/Prof Sturm is based within the Dermatology Research Centre, School of Medicine at the University of Queensland. The focus of his research is the biology of the melanocyte cell and pigmentation genetics in relation to human skin cancer. Major goals are to understand the genetic basis of normal human pigmentation and naevogenesis, to assess the phenotypic association of these physical traits, including skin, hair, eye colour and freckling, with skin UV-sensitivity.
