Robert Blumenschine

Chief Scientist of PAST, the Palaeontogical Scientific Trust, University of the Witwatersrand

Robert Blumenschine has served as Chief Scientist of PAST, the Palaeontogical Scientific Trust, since 2010, and is an emeritus professor at Rutgers University, where he served on the faculty of the Department of Anthropology for 27 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley. He has published extensively on the behaviour and ecology of human ancestors, and has conducted archaeological, palaeontological and wildlife research in Africa, principally in Tanzania as co-leader of the longest-running human origins research project at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania since 1987.
