Principal Lecturer in Globalisation and War, University of Brighton

I teach globalisation, global politics and contemporary conflict in the school of humanities at the University of Brighton. My main area of research is on human rights and humanitarian intervention. I have written one book on the transnational social movement at the heart of a successful attempt to develop a new United Nations declaration on the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas, and another on the responsibility to protect - the international commitment to respond, military if necessary, to genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.
