Roger Wang

Dr. Roger (Ruo-Qian) Wang is Lecturer of Fluid Mechanics in Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee. He has conducted Postdoctoral research in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and Mechanical Engineering and Tata Center for Research and Technology at MIT. He has obtained Ph.D. in Environmental Fluid Mechanics at MIT, a Master degree from Singapore-Stanford Partnership (Nanyang Technological University /Stanford University), and a Bachelor degree from Beihang University, China. He has also served as a research engineer in Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Center before his Ph.D.

His research focuses on the development of Environmental Computational Fluid Dynamics models and the application of data-driven analysis tools to improve modeling performance and to understand the modeling results and field observation data. The research topics cover natural hazards, environmental disasters, single- and multiphase plumes in stratified waters, the interaction of sea-level rise and infrastructure, and energy-food nexus. These studies involve the frontier CFD tools, big data, data science, and computational technology.
