Senior Lecturer in History, The Open University

Rosalind Crone is a Senior Lecturer in History at the Open University. She has worked on a number of topics in nineteenth-century criminal justice history, notably in the work about its intersection with popular culture, which led to the book ‘Violent Victorians: popular entertainment in nineteenth-century London' (Manchester UP, 2012). She has also worked on the histories of literacy and reading. Currently she is leading an AHRC-funded project on ‘Educating Criminals’, which examines the role of prison education in the evolution of the modern British penal regime (http://educatingcriminals.com/).
