Professor of Criminology and Sociology, University of Liverpool

Ross Coomber, PhD is Professor in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Liverpool (UK). He was previously Director of the Griffith Criminology Institute, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia and before that, Professor of Sociology, and Director of the Drug and Alcohol Research Unit at the University of Plymouth (UK). He has 30 years research experience in the drug and alcohol field and has written extensively in this space, particularly on the machinations of illicit drug markets. In 2013 he undertook a rapid ethnographic and cross-cultural observational tour of six Asian countries looking at public spitting.
