Rowena Kasprowicz completed her PhD in Education at the University of York, where she investigated the effectiveness of explicit, input-based grammar instruction (form-meaning mapping versus form-spotting) for upper key stage 2 pupils (age 9 to 11) learning German.
Alongside her PhD, Rowena taught German in three Yorkshire primary schools and developed and co-delivered professional development workshops based on the form-meaning mapping approach with Dr Emma Marsden.
Rowena continues to explore innovative techniques for classroom-based foreign language teaching as a Researcher in the DC Labs, where she is working on the development and evaluation of a narrative-driven digital game for foreign language learning (Gaming Grammar project).
