Professor of International Relations, Griffith University

A former Australian Senator, Professor Trood brings a comprehensive, macro view to analysis of the significance and impact of the G20 Summit. During his time as a Senator, Professor Trood was Deputy Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs and co-chair of the Joint Standing Committee for the Library. He has also been a member of the Foreign Affairs Council, the Board of the Australian Indonesia Institute and the Australian Committee of Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. In his current adjunct role at Griffith, he is a key figure in the School of Government and International Relations, building on his previous 12 years (1991-2003) as director at Griffith’s Centre for the Study of Australia-Asia Relations.
