My PhD was an interdisciplinary research project between English Language & Linguistics and Education at the University of Glasgow. I worked with a group of pupils in a high school in the East End of Glasgow, some who had been born in the area and some who had moved from Poland. I used quantitative methods to compare the sociolinguistic behaviour of the two groups, and combined this with an ethnographic analysis of the school and pupils.
I currently work as a lecturer in Sociolinguistics at the University of Glasgow. I've recently launched a podcast, Accentricity, which aims to bring together academic and non-academic perspectives on language and identity.
