Sally-Ann Krzyzaniak

Research Fellow in Accounting and Financial Management, University of Portsmouth

I started my career as a clinical dietitian in the National Health Service, before moving into the food industry where I worked on FMCG food and supplement brands for a number of major multi-national companies. My initial roles in nutrition science, where I worked on product claims development and research and I developed an interest in food labelling and food law. Subsequently I held a number of senior roles in scientific and regulatory affairs, leading regulatory lobbying and compliance activities for organisations with a scope including European, African, Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific markets.

In 2013 I decided to fulfil a long held ambition to study for a PhD and moved to Portsmouth to study on a 3 year bursary researching the key determinants of the governance of food safety in food business organisations. I have also been utilising my experience in the food supply chain and regulatory environment through working with the Gate-to-Plate and Food Fraud Research Groups.

In September 2016 I was appointed to the position of Research Fellow in the Accounting and Financial management group of Portsmouth Business School with a brief to develop projects in the area of management control, food fraud and the food supply chain.
