Sara Brown

Professor Sara Brown is a clinical academic dermatologist - she combines her research with work as an NHS consultant dermatologist, providing specialist clinics for children and adults with atopic eczema, patients with rare genetic skin diseases, and general dermatology care. Sara is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science and she has been a Professor of Dermatology since 2015.

In her current research, Sara and her laboratory team use a combination of genetic studies and detailed molecular analysis of human skin cells and artificial skin culture models to investigate the root causes and mechanisms of atopic eczema. This work is designed to identify more specific targets for therapy development for eczema and related conditions.

Sara's work is funded by: The Wellcome Trust, UKRI/Medical Research Council, British Skin Foundation, EU/IMI with multiple pharma funders, Rosetrees Trust, Stoneygate Trust, Charles Wolfson Trust and anonymous philanthropic donors.
