Senior Lecturer in Psychology, University of Bath

Sean joined the Department for Health at University of Bath in 2006 from the Department of Psychology at The University of Washington (Seattle). He obtained his PhD in Kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2002 where he worked for the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports. Sean currently serves as the Professional Placements and Study Abroad Tutor for the undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

Sean’s research focuses on adolescent health and development, with particular emphasis on the processes of growth and maturation, and the development of school and sports based initiatives that encourage active and healthy living. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and his research has been funded by a number of agencies including the Economic and Social Research Council, the British Academy, and 21st Century Legacy. Sean is an Associate-Editor for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching.
