Simon Hallsworth

Visiting Professor of Criminology, University of Brighton

Simon is a sociologist who has published extensively on a range of high profile social issues. These include contemporary state development, street robbery, urban street gangs, riots, the sociology of punishment and the contemporary politics of law and order. Simon has advised Government ministers and a range of organisations including ACPO and the Metropolitan Police. He has made numerous appearances on radio and the TV discussing contemporary issues of law and order and has written for Vice, The Conversation and the Guardian as a columnist. He is currently an independent researcher and visiting professor at the University of Brighton. For over 20 years he ran a Research Centre in the East End of London and his last formal post was Pro-Vice Chancellor at the University of Suffolk.
