Stephen Byrd

Stephen Byrd is Associate Professor of Education and the Interim Director of Graduate Studies at Elon University. His research interests are in the areas of response to intervention (RTI), families' perceptions of special education, and international special education. He also serves as program coordinator for the special education program.

For ten years, Stephen was an elementary and special education teacher in Virginia. Afterwards, he completed his PhD in special education from the University of Virginia. Since 2005, he has been teaching at Elon in the School of Education – both undergraduate and graduate students.
