Senior Research Specialist., Human Sciences Research Council

Steven Lawrence Gordon is a Senior Research Specialist at Human Science Council of South Africa working in Democracy and Governance and Service Delivery research programme and is a member of the South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS) unit. He has a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In the last decade, Dr Gordon has published more than thirty peer-review research articles in academic journals and edited volumes. An experienced researcher, his recent research concerns micro-econometric analysis using national attitudinal and household surveys. For the last five years, his main academic interested has been public attitudes towards international migration. In the last two years, with the support of the Centre of Excellence in Human Development at the University of the Witswaterand, Dr Gordon has been investigating public attitudes towards anti-immigrant hate crime in South Africa.
