Sylvie Magerstaedt's key research interests are at the intersection between cinema (and TV), philosophy and religion. She has always attempted to combine her experience of working in the media industries (TV production and PR) with her passion for interdisciplinary research and scholarship. Sylvie is particularly interested in the ways in which culture impacts on creative media content (in particular film and television) and how in turn these media impact on culture and society. After having explored science fiction, fantasy epics and myth in her previous publications, she recently publsihed a new monograph titled 'TV Antiquity', which examines the history and aesthetics of 'Sword and Sandal' television shows.
