Tad Hershorn has written about and photographed jazz since the late 1960s and has published the book Norman Granz: The Man Who Used Jazz for Justice, U. Cal. Press (2011). He received a Master's degree in history from George Mason University, followed by an M.L.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in archives and manuscripts.
