Tara Povey

Dr Tara Povey is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Comparative Politics of the Middle East, Department of Politics and International Studies. Previously she also lectured on the politics and history of the Middle East at the University of Sydney.

Her area of research is social movements in Egypt and Iran and she is the co-editor of Women, Power and Politics in 21st Century Iran [Ashgate, 2012]. Other areas of interest include contemporary Islamic movements, gender and women’s movements and the impact of neo-liberal globalisation on Middle Eastern states.
