Teerooven has held academic positions at the University of Mauritius, Aberystwyth University, University of Southampton and recently joined the University of Essex. His research focuses on the interplay between accounting, accountability and governance in companies and not-for profit organisations. His recently funded projects have been on governing boards and decision-making in universities, and on the accountability and control practices of CSR Foundations in Mauritius.
Teerooven is also the Chair of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Accounting and Finance in Emerging Economies (AFEE) Special Interest Group (http://bafa.ac.uk/subgroups/special-interest-groups/emerging-economies/) and Secretary of the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA, http://www.aafassociation.com/).
