Tess Moriarty

I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. My research focusses on coral health with respect to the corals' microbiome. I am part of the research group, the Symbiosis Genomics group run by Associate Professor Bill Leggat, and my other supervisors for my PhD are Associate Professor Tracy Ainsworth and Dr. Megan Huggett. As part of my Ph.D. I am assessing coral health at Lord Howe Island and part of a large project in conjunction with many partners to work towards predicting coral disease outbreaks in the Pacific Ocean. My experience lies with coral reef monitoring, microbial research, coral restoration, and underwater photography.
