Professor of Robotics; Director, WA Electric Vehicle Trial, The University of Western Australia

Thomas Braunl is Professor at the University of Western Australia, Perth, where he directs the Renewable Energy Vehicle Project (REV). He is Technical Director of the WA Electric Vehicle Trial and the leading chief investigator of the EV Recharging Project, which are both the first in Australia.

Professor Braunl received a Diploma in Informatics from Univ. Kaiserslautern (1986), an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California (1987) and a PhD and Habilitation in Informatics from Univ. Stuttgart (1989, 1994).

He has worked in the past for BASF, Daimler and Univ. Stuttgart and has been a
Guest Professor at TU Munchen and Santa Clara University.

Professor Braunl's research interests include electric vehicles, robotics, vision, and concurrency. He is author of several research books and textbooks and has developed the EyeBot mobile robot family and the REV electric car series.
