Tim Collins is a Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. He is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He received a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham for research in Active Sonar Pulse Design.

Tim's research expertise spans several areas within the field of applied signal processing including 3D acquisition and processing for the visualisation and the virtual reconstruction of fragmented cuneiform tablets; medical data analysis; audio signal processing for 3D surround sound, processing and reproduction; and acoustics and sonar signal processing for underwater sonar and communications.
