PhD Candidate in History, University of York

Tom is a PhD candidate in the History Department at the University of York, studying the Congress for Cultural Freedom in South Asia between 1951 and 1967. He has previously studied at York (MA), and the University of Leicester and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (BA).
Research-wise, Tom is interested in the cultural Cold War, global history, South Asian intellectual history, anticolonialism, and public history. These interests often cohere around the question of how ideas travel through space and across borders in modern times to be repurposed in original ways by different political actors.
