Dr Tomas Maltby is a Lecturer in International Politics in the Department of Political Economy. He works primarily on issues related to EU politics and energy policy.

Tomas’ research focuses primarily on energy policy. In particular this has explored the development of energy policy, at the European and nation state level. This has included looking at the extent to which newer EU member states have attempted and succeeded in shaping the development of the EU's energy security policy. Related research has focused on the securitisation of energy policy, EU agenda-setting, EU-Russia relations and the development of renewable energy policy in Eastern Europe.
