Distinguished Teaching Professor of Spanish and Portuguese, State University of New York Oswego

Tracy K. Lewis holds the rank of Distinguished Teaching Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the State University of New York at Oswego, where he has taught for over 30 years. He specializes in Latin American studies, with particular emphasis on Paraguay and its literature in Spanish and Guarani. He has a long record of translation of Paraguayan literature, and is the author of a critical edition of Juan Manuel Marcos' novel El invierno de Gunter. In addition, he is the author of two books of poetry and a book of essays, all of which include pieces in Spanish, English, and Guarani. A third book of poetry will be published in November, 2015.

Equally important to Dr. Lewis is the promotion and practice of good teaching, a subject which figures prominently in his writing. He is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
