I have a diverse range of interests in sedimentary geology and marine geology, including:

Sediment routing and source-to-sink sedimentary processes

Basin evolution, particularly sheared (transform) or obliquely rifted margins

Ocean gateways and their impact on thermohaline circulation, climate and deep-water sediment routing

The evolution of deep-water fold-and-thrust belts, particularly the interaction of sedimentary and tectonic processes

Marine geohazards, particularly tsunamigenic faults and above-grade (unstable) slopes

The best way to understand many of these processes is to take a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating 2D and 3D seismic data, other geophysical data, sedimentological fieldwork and geomorphological observations. I’m particularly interested in testing models built from seismic observations using borehole data, including data acquired through the International Ocean Discovery Programme (IODP).
