Victoria Flanagan

Senior Lecturer in English, Macquarie University

Victoria's major research focus is the representation of gendered bodies in children's literature and film - particularly in relation to the representation of transgressive gender behaviours such as cross-dressing and the depiction of queered subjectivities. Her PhD thesis investigated the representation of cross-dressing across a broad range of children's fiction and film and was recently published by Routledge as Into the Closet: Cross-Dressing and the Gendered Body in Children's Literature and Film (2007). She is also interested in the application of posthuman theories to children's texts. Victoria is the convenor of the MA in Children's Literature and also teaches children's literature at undergraduate level.
