PhD Candidate, Institute of Education, University of Manchester

I am a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Manchester Institute of Education. My research is investigating an all-through, community-focused school in west London. The school is developing a "cradle-to-career" design to support pupils, their families and the wider community. The research has involved 18 months' ethnographic fieldwork.

I began my professional career as a secondary school teacher and worked in Wolverhampton and London over six years. I left teaching in 2017 to complete an MA in Education and International Development at the UCL Institute of Education. My dissertation looked at issues of political empowerment and education in a community of displaced women in rural Colombia. I started my PhD in 2018.
