Dr Wiaux is an Associate Professor and is Director of the Biomedical and Astronomical Signal Processing (BASP) group at the Institute of Sensors, Signals, and Systems.
He also has a visiting position in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh (UoE), aiming to foster collaborations between various institutes at Heriot-Watt and UoE.
The research of the Biomedical and Astronomical Signal Processing (BASP) group that Dr Wiaux runs spans the following areas:
Advanced signal processing - inverse problems, sparsity, wavelet techniques, compressed sensing, signal processing on the sphere;
Biomedical imaging - data acquisition and image reconstruction in magnetic resonance and ultrasound imaging;
Astrophysics - imaging techniques in radio and optical interferometry, cosmological data analysis.
