Prostate proteins discovered

New proteins that may improve treatment for prostate disorders have been found.

The G protein-coupled receptors enable cells to respond to hormones and neurotransmitters. Approximately half of all therapeutic drugs target these receptors.

New specialised technology has allowed these proteins to be identified by researchers from the University of Western Australia and Monash University
