Remote medication delivery a success

The first in-human testing of a wireless medication dispenser was a success, according to a study published in the latest edition of Science Translational Medicine.

The wireless implant system delivered a syringe dose of osteoporosis medication to eight female sufferers over 50, without any major side effects or change to their quality of life.

However, the study notes the wireless dispenser requires daily injections, which, coupled with patient compliance, are obstacles to effective patient treatment.
