Salt overdose kills malaria

A new class of antimalarial drug has been discovered, using spiroindolones to block a pump within the malaria parasites face, causing it to fill will salt and die.

Finding vulnerabilities within the parasites physiology will allow researchers to develop new antimalarial drugs.
