Nobel-prize winning astronomer Brian Schmidt of the Australian National University’s Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics speaks here about the revolutionary power of basic research. Professor Schmidt was on a panel of Nobel laureates taking questions from the press.
The first question, “What is astrophysics good for?” is addressed to Professor Schmidt, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics last week. He appears with the 2011 Nobel Laureates in Physics and Chemistry, and the Laureates in Economic Sciences. The video was shot in Stockholm, Sweden.
