Solar steam technology could improve sanitation

A new solar energy technology has been developed that uses nanoparticles to convert sunlight directly into steam.

The “solar steam” method makes use of light-capturing nanoparticles, which instantly vaporise water and create steam when submerged.

The technology will first be used to maintain efficient sanitation and water purification in developing countries.
