Squids bob to improve vision

In the featureless open ocean, perceiving distance can often prove an issue for divers and marine animals alike.

A recent study by researchers at the University of Queensland has found the bigfin reef squid has an ingenious solution to this problem.

The squid overcomes its blurred vision and difficult environment by using a characteristic bobbing motion to precisely target prey and identify object size.
